Why September Is the Right Month for a Peel
A medium-depth peel and the Texas sun don’t mix. Freshly resurfaced skin is sensitive to UV, so the smartest time to peel is when the sun finally lets up — and in Central Texas, that window opens in early fall. Doing your peel in September means your skin renews through the mildest months of the year and looks its best by the holidays.
What This Peel Actually Is
This is not a lunchtime peel. It is a medium-depth, physician-performed treatment: a glycolic acid preparation followed by 35% trichloroacetic acid (TCA), applied by a board-certified dermatologist. The combination reaches deeper than the light peels offered at spas, which is why one treatment can meaningfully improve sun damage, uneven pigment, rough texture, and fine lines — and why it’s done once or twice a year, not in a monthly series.
Expect real downtime: several days of visible peeling as the old, damaged surface layer sheds. What replaces it is smoother, more even-toned skin. We’ll walk you through aftercare so healing goes the way it should.
Who It’s For
Good candidates typically have sun-damaged, unevenly pigmented, or rough-textured skin and can set aside roughly a week for visible peeling. Not everyone is a candidate — skin type, history, and current skin condition all matter, which is why candidacy is determined at a consultation before anything is scheduled. That consultation also lets us tailor prep and aftercare to your skin.
