Here at Elect Dermatology, our skincare team uses chemical peels to improve the skin and smooth its texture by using a chemical solution that causes the dead skin to sluff off. Sluffing off the outer layer of skin will reveal healthier skin underneath.

Benefits of Chemical Peels
Many of our patients with an array of skin types benefit from chemical peels as regular skincare and aesthetics facial treatment.
Chemical Peel can:

- Minimize pores
- Erase fine lines and wrinkles
- Fade discoloration
- Lift skin
- Smooth scarring
- Balance texture
- Smooth skin
Chemical peels are non-invasive and can be paired with other treatments, such as Botox or Fillers, to achieve the desired look.
How Often Should I Get This Skincare Treatment?
Depending on your skin type and goals, our Dermatologist will examine your skin and suggest what chemical peel treatment best suits your needs. The type of chemical peel will dictate how often you can receive it. Generally, if only a light chemical peel is needed, you can get it every month. For a more intense treatment, like medium peels, it is suggested to wait four to six months between treatments.
What Happens During a Chemical Peel?
Your skin will be cleaned and dried thoroughly. Then, a barrier of moisturizer will be placed on and around your mouth, eyes, hair, nose, and mouth to protect the tissue.
The peel involves the application of a chemical solution. This solution is left to sit on the skin. During this time, you may notice some slight stinging or burning. This should be tolerable. The Dermatologist will then remove the chemical peel solution and put a neutralizing solution on the skin to soothe the area.
Over the next few days, you will notice some peeling of the skin where the chemical peel was applied. This is a normal reaction and part of the process. After a week, you will notice the peeling resolve, and the formation of healthy, new skin will emerge.
