What we can usually see the same day
- Acne — a painful flare, new cystic breakouts, or a routine that has stopped working
- Atopic dermatitis — an eczema flare, cracked skin, or itching that is keeping you up at night
- Hives — new or recurring welts
- Warts — including hand and plantar warts
- Molluscum — common in children and usually straightforward to treat
- Rosacea — flushing, bumps, or a flare that came on quickly
- Rashes — a new, spreading, or uncomfortable rash that needs a look
That list is what same-day availability covers right now. Other concerns — mole checks and skin cancer screenings, surgical procedures, and cosmetic consultations — are booked as regular appointments, and we will get you in as soon as the schedule allows.
How it works
- Call before noon. Same-day slots are held on the morning schedule, so a call after midday usually means the next available regular appointment instead.
- Tell the front desk what is going on. A short description of the problem and how long it has been there is enough for us to know whether a same-day visit is the right fit.
- We confirm a time. Availability depends on that day’s schedule. Same-day visits are usually available, not guaranteed, and we will tell you honestly if the day is full.
Who you will see
Same-day visits are seen by Michelle Hockley, physician assistant, who works alongside board-certified dermatologists Dr. Stahr and Dr. Hockley at our New Braunfels office. If what you came in for turns out to need a dermatologist, we will get you onto their schedule rather than sending you somewhere else.
When not to wait for an appointment
A rash with a fever, a rapidly spreading rash, swelling of the lips, tongue or throat, or any trouble breathing is an emergency. Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room — do not wait for a dermatology appointment.
